6 Tips for Communicating with Wedding Vendors
A great relationship with wedding vendors is so important! That’s why as wedding planners, we pride ourselves on our excellent communication skills. To help ensure you and your wedding vendors are on the same page, we’ve put together a collection of six of our best communication tips:
- Keep things concise – here’s where bullet points come in handy! Give all the important details to your wedding vendor, not the fluff. Now is not the time to chat about the weather!
- Ask for a point of contact – if you are not offered one, ask for a single point of contact from your vendor. This means you don’t need to repeat yourself to a new person each time.
- Keep a paper record – jot down your meeting dates, times, and agenda. Make a to do list for each vendor and keep all their paperwork together in one folder.
- Use photos – you’ve got a picture in your head of what you want your vendor to achieve for your wedding, but they haven’t. If you can, find photos and create a mood board of your vision to share with them.
- Never assume anything – wedding vendors are not mind readers and they won’t know exactly what you are thinking. Be clear about what you want!
Communicating with vendors happens via text, phone, emails, letters, in person and virtually. Not every vendor will use every type, and just like you, they’ll have their preferred methods. If you find yourself struggling when communicating with your vendors, remember that when hiring us as your wedding planners, we can communicate with all, or a select few, and take care of all that hassle for you. Book a time to meet up for a chat and discover more about how we can help you achieve the wedding of your dreams!
